Not to live in, neither to have a hut, note even to spend a few days. Farwa is literally a paradise: Here live birds and other animals, and man is only welcome if is only passing by and respectful with the surroundings. Things are about to change, because there are companies that are planning to build resorts or at least a hotel. But for now, remains a pure quiet corner where the only inhabitant of the island, a lighthouse, rules in a horizon shared by Tunisia and Libya.

The island that wanes and grows

The island of Farwa is a wetland that spends half of the year surrounded by water and needs to be reached by ferry. But a miracle happens in summer and the island is no longer an island and becomes an appendage of Libya to where people arrives by foot to refresh their feet at the freshwater springs found at the scarce of 5 square kilometers.

Camp, the only adventure

Here there is nowhere to spend the night at. That’s why, when the night falls, the best is to count with a tent, and if there is good weather, dare to sleep under the stars. Pure silence.

Although a place in which they live up to 29 species of seabirds, the sound of the ocean is accompanied from time to time, by the cry of a crane searching for food or simply speaking into the distance with its partner.
