We could count dozens of songs in 2011 that have left their mark. Every corner of the Mediterranean submerged in them. On cold days like now or warm days as are the majority in our enviable climate. It’s time to synthesize and select those that for us have been the most beautiful or special. Happy reading, happy listening.
1. Bon Iver “Holocene”
Our first position could not be any other. One of the sensations of this year was Bon Iver, a French corrupt play on words that would mean ‘good winter’-and the album titled Homonimo, where we highlight “Holocene”. More than one will shed a tear remembering their childhood.
2. Gotye & Kimbra “Somebody That I Used To Know”
Beyond words. That’s what music is for. One of the most breath taking and falsetto melodies of the season. Few songs excite as much as this male-female vocal duel. Few know that the issue contains a sample of “Seville” by Luiz Bonfa.
3. James Blake “I Never Learnt to Share”

We can’t blame him for how he pours his soul on electronic music, nor can we blame him for being clever with the tempos, sad or wild, as the mood dictates. Recently we enjoyed his music in Barcelona, wonderful, we want more.
4. Destroyer “Kaputt”
Quite a while ago now, but back in January we started the year with beauties of this kind. A genuine example of pop, warmth, wind instruments and guitars merged together without sounding corny.
5. Aeroplane “My Enemy”
A composition that sounds like a classic universal anthem reflected on a cushion of italo-disco. “Aeroplane” by Giorgio Moroder is outstanding. Good vibes and body pampering.
6. Be Forest “Thrill”
We admire them a lot and share our Mediterranean roots. Despite the names and titles, Be Forest is Italian like the sand of Capri. New wave, dream and indie pop.
7. Fleet Foxes “Mykonos”
A more than recommended American band, that has not hesitated for a moment, to capture the charm of one of the most magical islands of our environment in a melodic, organic pop with a touch of seventies. A pleasure!
8. Lasers “Juno”

It seems these young men from Barcelona were in a rush to conquer the chill wave and cosmic pop music scene, blatant with their excellent debut and first album ‘songs’. We are going to find them everywhere in 2012. FIB, Primavera Sound…
9. Metronomy “The Bay”
It would be unforgivable to not include this song, this video. Most of us can’t get it out of our head. It’s made its place and it’s not going anywhere. “The Bay” is the ideal theme for those who want a 365 day summer. Fresh pop-disco while enjoying the sun of the Riviera
10. Foster the People “Pumped Up Kicks”

Let us say goodbye with this song, our first “top”, holding hands and smiling while jumping of the edge into the beautiful waters of the “Med” accompanied by sound of this song. Whistling happy as can be and wishing the best for 2012. Because we’re worth it.
